Economics:

Charlotte County's Economy was ranked #1 out of the 300
metropolitan areas in the U.S. by Money Magazine. This ranking was based on several factors, including a
cost of living 5% lower than the national average, projected
job growth of over 16% in the next 3 years, and a very low
unemployment rate. Housing is very affordable, with the
average home costing only around $74,500.
There is no personal income tax in the state of Florida.
Sales tax is a low six percent on most products, with food
and medicine being exempt from sales tax. Real estate taxes
are among the lowest in the nation, and Florida is one of a
handful of states to offer a homestead exemption. The
homestead exemption is the highest in the nation at $25,000.
This exempts your home from $25,000 of its assessed value in
taxation, and there are no state residency time requirements
to receive this homestead exemption. All you are required to
have is a Florida driver's license (if you drive),
automobile registration (if you own a car), a voter
registration card, and a recorded deed on your property.
